Alnwick
& Coquetdale |
Alnwick District is a particularly scenic area of
Northumberland. Contained within it's boundary is the
beautiful and picturesque village of Rothbury, and the
hamlets of Upper Coquetdale.

The district boasts the amazing Alnwick Castle and the
new Alnwick Garden, whilst Rothbury benefits from having
the stately home, Cragside, on its doorstep and the superb
view of the Simonside Range which provides a ruggedly
beautiful backdrop to the Coquet Valley.

The countryside of Coquetdale is not to be forgotten if
you are a keen walker, as the area offers some of the
best walks in Northumberland. |

Alnwick
Garden, in the grounds of Alnwick Castle, Northumberland - Web Site

Work in the Alnwick Garden. At present there are major ground
works being undertaken in the Alnwick Garden. The Tree House is
presently under construction to the right of the main entrance,
it is intended to be completed this autumn, whilst the interior
of the Alnwick Garden is presently seeing major change with some
large earthmoving vehicles working on stage 2 of the garden. Unfortunately
this work will cause some disruption to the garden and will affect
how you perceive it. This is however temporary and the improvements
for next year will soon become apparent. There are still
large parts of the Garden to see and which are unaffected by the
work!

The cost of entry into the garden:-
£4 per adult
Children under 16 free (accompanied by an adult)
Concessions £3.50
Car parking - there is now a parking charge of £1.40 per car.

Hopefully you will still go to the Alnwick Garden, and see for yourself
the major work that is being undertaken to improve the Garden for
next year and beyond. The work to the Tree House is particularly
interesting at the moment. (amended 10.5.04)
